The 22nd International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2018) was hosted in Amsterdam, Netherlands from 23 until 27 of July 2018. The International AIDS Conference is the largest conference on any global health issue in the world.
The theme of AIDS 2018 is “Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges”, drawing attention to the need of rights-based approaches to more effectively reach key populations, including in Eastern Europe and Central Asia and the North-African/Middle Eastern regions where epidemics are growing.
The conference brought together over 15,000 participants including scientists, people living with HIV, leaders of public organizations, activists, pharmaceutical companies, medical workers, politicians and world leaders, as well as journalists.
Republican public organization "AFEW-Tajikistan" also participated in the Conference and shared its experience in such areas as: HIV prevention in prisons, the results of a study on assessing the level of labor migration among drug users, the experience of social reintegration of women returning from labor migration, providing online consultations, and the results of the work on involving representatives of key population groups in monitoring services provided by public organizations.
