RPO "AFIF" has started the implementation of the II phase of the project to improve the access of convicts to medical services

On June 7, 2022, the Republican Public Organization “Afif” has started the implementation of the II phase of the project “Strengthening the potential of the medical service of the system for the execution of criminal sentences of the Republic of Tajikistan for timely diagnosis and quality medical care for convicts”, which will be funded by the Department of the International Organization of the Open Society Institute - Assistance Foundation in Tajikistan. The main goal of the project is to assist in further strengthening the capacity of the medical service of the Main Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Sentences of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tajikistan (MDECS MJ RT) in providing timely and qualified medical care for convicts in the framework of the strategy for reforming the penitentiary system, approved by the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan No. 385 dated June 25, 2020 “On the Strategy for Reforming the System for the Execution of Criminal Sentences of the Republic of Tajikistan for the period up to 2030”.

In particular, the project includes equipping the medical service of the MDECS MJ RT with modern medical equipment, trainings and courses to improve the professional skills of medical workers, as well as information sessions on health issues for convicts in detention.
