Issues of HIV prevention among people who inject drugs discussed in Bokhtar
On November 20, 2020, Republican Public Organization "Afif" andthe Department of Health of Khatlon Region held a working meeting of partners network of medical and social service providers’ ofKhatlon region in Bokhtar city. 35 representatives of government and public organizations working in the field of HIV prevention, treatment, care and support, attended the meeting in regular and online format.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the HIV epidemiological situation in the Khatlon region, the issues of promoting comprehensive access to HIV and harm reduction for people who inject drugs, and shared experiences and opinions on ways to attract drug users to the opioid substitution therapy (OST) program and build adherence therapy.
RPO "Afif" presented the progress results of the implementation of the project "Strengthening the supportive environment and scaling up prevention, treatment and care to curb the HIV epidemic in the Republic of Tajikistan", funded by UNPD-Tajikistan under support of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. The working group meeting was also organized within abovementioned project.
