On December 17-20, 2019, in Dushanbe training “Course on prevention of drugs and HIV problems” was conducted. The training was organized by RPO “Afif” in cooperation with Ministry of internal affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Drug Control Agency under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of health and social protection of population of the Republic of Tajikistan. The representatives of the Ministry of internal affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Drug Control Agency under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of health and social protection of population of the Republic of Tajikistan from the cities of Dushanbe, Kulob, Bokhtar, Khorog, Khujand and RRS were invited to the training.
During the training, participants familiarized with the key points of the Instruction for the implementation of HIV prevention measures for law enforcement officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, increased their knowledge about types of drugs, psychoactive substances (PAS), the features of using PAS and drug addiction, learned the methods of referring key populations to demand services, as well as development of public speaking skills on HIV prevention and drug use.
«On this training I understood how to communicate with vulnerable groups of population and use correct approaches during communication with drug users and people living with HIV” – told one of the participants.
“I have learned that the person needs to properly lead the conversation with the aim of encouraging the subsequent change in the behavior and improve the lives of key populations. It is important to be humane and lead the conversation properly with all people, regardless of their state of health, whether they are drug users or people living with HIV” – shared his opinion another training participant.
The training was conducted within the framework of project “Supporting initiatives to improve National Drug Policy in the Republic of Tajikistan” funded by Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation – Tajikistan.
