July 2, 2018, Republican public organization “AFEW-Tajikistan” has started implementation of the joint plan of trainings “HIV/AIDS and organization of HIV voluntary testing and counseling among the prisons workers of Penitentiary system of Tajikistan”.
From July 3 to August 31, 2018 as provided in the plan approved by the Main Department for the Execution of Criminal Penalties under the Ministry of Justice of the
Republic of Tajikistan, employees of the AFEW-Tajikistan together with the specialists from the Republican AIDS Center under the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan will conduct short-term information session: "HIV: Transmission Routes and Prevention Measures". These sessions will be attended by soldiers of the security service and non-medical personnel of large correctional institutions in the cities of Dushanbe, Vakhdat, Norak, Yavan and Khudjand. After completion of the session all attendees will be offered HIV voluntary testing and counseling.
The joint activities are supported by the project: "Bridging the Gaps: Health and Rights of key populations -2.0", funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.
Note: Republican public organization "AFEW-Tajikistan" implements preventive health protection programs, HIV and tuberculosis prevention activities in the system of the execution of criminal penalties of the Republic of Tajikistan since 2003.
