AFEW-Tajikistan, together with partners, creates a network of organizations that provide voluntary HIV counseling and testing in various regions of the Republic of Tajikistan.
On March 15, 2018, in Dushanbe, a workshop was held with involvement of representatives of eight HIV-service community organizations participating in the project "Bridging the Gaps: Health and Rights for Key Populations -2.0".
The Republican public organization AFEW-Tajikistan organized the event.
During the workshop, employees of partner civil society organizations have discussed issues of improving professional skills and knowledge in program and administrative financial management, communication and corporate ethics in the framework of the jointly implemented project "Bridging the Gaps: Health and Rights for Key Populations -2.0", funded by the MFA of Netherlands.
Participants also discussed the mechanisms of cooperation to expand access of key populations to scientific information on health protection, national medical experts and lawyer’s services providing consultations trough the medical information online portal www.afew.tj.
"It's always easy to start a new initiative, a new project, when you know what you need to do, how to do it and what to strive for. The AFEW-Tajikistan always uses the partner-oriented practice before implementing a new project, providing information on program, administrative and financial management of the project and communication rules. This helps us correctly prioritize our commitments", said Maram Azizmamadov, Director of the regional volunteer organization "Volunteer" in Khorough, GBAO.
The unified strategy for coordination and interaction of public organizations providing rapid HIV testing and counseling services in different regions of the country has been developed during the event.
Reference: The AFEW-Tajikistan was the first public organization in Tajikistan that provided rapid HIV testing and counseling services to its clients in Bokhtar city (Kurgan-Tube) since 2016. With the AFEW-Tajikistan’s support, three other public organizations, Vita, SVON Plus and Amali nek also started conducting HIV testing among key populations in Dushanbe, Kulob and Khudjand cities since December 2017. It’s expected that two more public organizations ("Volunteer" and "Buzurg") will introduce the same service in Khorough and Pendjikent in the second quarter of 2018.
