Working meeting of the medical and social service providers partner’s network was held on September 20, 2019 in Bokhtar distrtict of Khatlon region. The meeting was attended by 35 representatives of state and public organizations working in the field of HIV prevention, treatment, care and support.

The working meeting was organized with the assistance of the Khatlon Regional Health Department and the project “Strengthening the maintenance medium and expanding the scale of prevention, treatment and care to containment the HIV epidemic in the Republic of Tajikistan”, implemented by the Republican public organization Afif in Khatlon region with financial support of UNDP-Tajikistan and the Global Fund

 At the working meeting, participants discussed the epidemiological situation of HIV in the Khatlon region, the issues of attracting key populations to ART and ways to build adherence to therapy.

RPO Afif presented to the participants of the working meeting the results of the project “Strengthening the conditions and expanding the scale of prevention, treatment and care to prevent the spread of the HIV epidemic in the Republic of Tajikistan” and shared on the work done to involve IDU in opioid substitution therapy, the existing obstacles, and ways to solve them and lessons learned. The participants in the working meeting decided to improve the interaction between medical services and public organizations to provide quality medical and social services to key populations and to promote comprehensive access to HIV and reduce harm to people who inject drugs.
